Canon Shooters Conquer Broken Top

Only photographers using Canon cameras attended the 8/27 Broken Top Field Trip, proving once and for all that Nikon shooters spend too much time in front of their computers, and thus not allowing for enough time in the field!

Cascade Camera Club Conquers Broken Top

But seriously folks, John Hart, Ralph Delamarter, Chris Kryzanek and Mike Jensen met at Tood Lake at 6:30am to make the trek up to the Broken Top trailhead.  A road so bad it would have eaten a PT Cruiser!  We left the trail head and traversed up the runoff river photographing wildflowers, vistas and ice crystals all the way up, reaching the tarn about 11am.  John even saw a few UFO’s on this trip!

Normally a terrible time of the day to shoot photos, we were rewarded for our efforts with relatively little wind, a beautiful sky, and a great photo op!

Next we hiked up to the upper ridge to overlook the Cascade range.

We took our time once up to the top of the world, finally returning around 2pm.  As we were processing the photos, Chris noticed a new member of the team after we took the group photo.  We think he was a Nikon shooter.

A great day was had by all!  Stay tuned for a photo gallery!

Sunriver Stables Field Trip

Hi Everyone! We had about 7 people come down to Sunriver to photograph about 80 horses being brought in from pasture, and saddled up for the day’s guided trips. The wranglers were great! Very personable! We were pretty much free to move around and shoot where ever we wanted to. Here’s a few shots!

Camera Club Field Trip – August 14th – 7 am – Sunriver Stables

From Bend go South on Hwy 97 to the Sunriver exit. Follow the round-abouts/circles through to circle 3. Take the exit from circle 3 to the Nature Center/Observator/Marina/Stables.

The staff brings the horses in from the pasture around 7:15-7:30am. They will allow us to position ourselves in several areas, and we will be able to photograph the horses in the stables and being readied for tour rides.

All participants will need to bring a completed waiver (attached).
