Only photographers using Canon cameras attended the 8/27 Broken Top Field Trip, proving once and for all that Nikon shooters spend too much time in front of their computers, and thus not allowing for enough time in the field!
But seriously folks, John Hart, Ralph Delamarter, Chris Kryzanek and Mike Jensen met at Tood Lake at 6:30am to make the trek up to the Broken Top trailhead. A road so bad it would have eaten a PT Cruiser! We left the trail head and traversed up the runoff river photographing wildflowers, vistas and ice crystals all the way up, reaching the tarn about 11am. John even saw a few UFO’s on this trip!
Normally a terrible time of the day to shoot photos, we were rewarded for our efforts with relatively little wind, a beautiful sky, and a great photo op!
Next we hiked up to the upper ridge to overlook the Cascade range.
We took our time once up to the top of the world, finally returning around 2pm. As we were processing the photos, Chris noticed a new member of the team after we took the group photo. We think he was a Nikon shooter.
A great day was had by all! Stay tuned for a photo gallery!
